Wolkenzicht
2020 · generative video, Cinema 4D, Octane Render
A digital interpretation of the Dutch clouds that have been a source of inspiration for painters since the 17th century — the characteristic combination of shapes, colours, light, and landscape. Jacob van Ruisdael managed to catch the light in such a way that the viewer is immersed in his work.
Wolkenzicht is a modern interpretation of “van Ruisdael clouds,” made for Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. Travellers walk past a sixteen-metre-long LED screen, usually in a hurry. The video is meant to slow them down briefly, to let them experience the calming effect of Dutch skies even if they cannot see them outside.
